A Few Scripts About Prepping and Assembling Your Hydraulic Vertical Shores

Prepping Your Hydraulic Vertical Shores

Hey, this is Chris Allen for Allen Trench Safety! Today, we’ll be prepping and priming the pump can on your hydraulic vertical shores.

This is very easy and can be done with just a few steps.

First, you’ll need to take the threaded end of the hose and screw it into the brass cross located on the top of the pump can. It may be wise to use some pipe joint compound to help seal this connection.

Once you’ve done this, it’s time to prime the pump. To prime the pump can, put about a gallon of fluid into the can and turn the 1/4 turn valve to open. Then, pump the handle quickly a few times. This should start the fluid flowing through the system. Now, turn the 1/4 turn valve closed and see if the pressure rises in the pressure gauge as you pump the handle. If it does, the pump is primed and ready to go! Now you can continue to fill the pump can to an adequate amount for the number of hydraulic vertical shores that you’ll be working with.

Assembling Your Hydraulic Vertical Shores

Today, we’ll be unpacking and assembling your new hydraulic vertical shores.

First, we’ll need to cut the banding and separate the pins and keepers. Next, we want to take the 1.5 rails and place them on the table in front of us. Now, it’s important that you place the base of the cylinder pad in the rail with the holes closest to the handles. After lining up the holes, slide the pin into place with the flat part down, then secure it with a circle cotter.

Next, take the remaining 1.5 rail, place it on top of the 2” socket pad, slide the pin through the second hole, and secure it with a circle cotter. This will allow the hydraulic vertical shore to fold properly when being installed in the trench.
